skype in suse 9.3

I have installed the latest version of skype in my suse 9.3. tt installed smoothly. Everything working except for the phone call. When I tried to call someone or receiving the call. I heard the other party sound for about 2-3 seconds before it's completely gone.

Any Ideas?

What happens if you play a normal audio track such as a CD or mp3? Do you get continuous audio? What sound card are you using? I had problems when I first started using Skype which came down to security permissions /dev/dsp for recording audio. Check to see if you record the sound of your own voice with your microphone correctly for 10-15 seconds. And make sure there are no firewall rules in place that might be conflicting with the port Skype uses...

Everythings is fine including skype ringing. The only problem come out when I'm calling or receiving someone's call. I heard the sound for 2 or 3 second. Then gone. The other party also unable to hear my voice.

I don't think there is problem with firewall.

This happened also in Ubuntu. The exactly same problem.

Gonna check the permission later. I'll give the feedback later.

If you use KDE , go to kcontrol ( control center ) , in Sound & Multimedia > Sound System and set the Auto-suspend if idle after to 1 second , maybe solves your problem , otherwise , sorry , I don't know any other suggestions
