Simple file sharing
I have two computers running SUSE 10.1 REM connected to my ISP via a simple "splitter", not a router. Everything works just fine. I bought a Linksys 4 port Cable/DSL router, not yet connected. I want to be able to copy files from computer 1 to computer 2 (one direction only). What is the simplest way to do this? Perhaps someone can point me to a howto page.
Thanks. |
Well, there are obviously a number of different protocols and programs that you could use, a number of which are likely already installed on the machines.
If the destination computer is running an SSH server, perhaps the easiest way would be with scp. |
Hi --the easiest way to do this is to install gftp from the install dvd. It runs also under kde and all you need to do is stick the IP address of the remote computer in the panel and start copying the files.
Here's a screenshot of the program http://www.1kyle.com/gftp1.jpg Cheers -K |
