Should I give up Suse because Suse, Mandriva, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc are trying to survive? I like romping in the Suse kindergarten with all the other very privileged Linux kinder. Most people can't afford the cost of such diversions.

Heaven forbid that shareholders might like a return on their investment. Shame on these economic realists!

Have you seen how difficult it is for a Distro just to stay alive by feeding on altruism instead of cashflow!

I'm a bit of a realist because I can't afford not to be, and I think along these lines: I will only live once. I don't and won't have the advantages during my life that many other's have, so how can I smell some roses along the way, given my resources - well one rose bed for me is Suse and since my using Suse isn't hurting anyone, I'm gonna smell roses.

Maybe we should reflect on the fact that boycotting Suse would hurt many people employed directly and indirectly by Suse, and their families. So those who wish to boycott Suse should think a bit first.

Having said that I have absolutely no difficulty with other points of view provided those views don't really hurt anyone.

talented people have companies lining up to hire them. novell is not going to disappear overnight, so no one will be put out into the street.

it's hurting everyone, including you. a portion of the cost of the suse distro now goes to microsoft for the use of some vague, undefined "I.P". microsoft gets to tax linux exactly why? and then gets to use the novell/microsoft agreement to shakedown every other linux distro for protection money, "you got a nice distro here, i'd be a shame if something happened to it".

ask anyone who knows me, i bought and used suse for years, and am not a free or nothing stalmanite, but microsoft doesn't get a slice of the pie, 'just because' .
