share a printer

hello,
My girlfriend is linked to my pc through a 8 way belkin switch, she uses xp and i use suse 10.1

My pc has the printer and i would like my better half to be able to use it when she needs to(its a simple wire link which gets disconnected as it is in the way). As i am just getting used to using suse(no duel boot anymore

) could an explanation be put in a simpler manner please.

Easiest is to setup Samba. The server app used to share directories and printers to other window users in network neighborhood. You will need to modify just a few lines /etc/samba/smb.conf. Setup workgroup=<name_ofworkgroup_on windows_if setup> normally workgroup is the default. The unrem the option encrypt passwords = yes.

Then add users to the samba server with the password they will use.

The rest in the default shares a user home directory and printers.
