Opensuse 11.2 is very easy to install on an USB stick. Size best is 4GB although can install in smaller usb stick.
1. Donwload a liveCD
2. cd to where the iso file is and then
2.1 find out which is your usb stick. You must be sure otherwise you can wiped out a whole HD!!
First become root
$ su
type your password
## ls -l /dev/disk/by-id/*usb*
you will find at the end the device, for example mine is /dev/sdc
2.1 Write the liveCD.iso to the usb stick
# dd if=liveCDiso of=/dev/XXX bs=4M
