Screen saver/ machine locking up power management proiblem?

Bug or feature?

I use SuSE 10, have power management implemented for my screen and was also running the random screen saver. I've stopped the last one running for now, but I wonder if anyone else has the following problem.

Machine left for a while (in the order of 15 hours or so); screen saver activates then power saver activates; come back to machine, get no or very slow response.

Response to mouse shows last screensaver activity and that's all. No password box to unlock screen, no clearing of screen when lock not activated. I even tried putting an audio CD on and that took over 5 minutes to start playing.

So it's indicative of something going through the roof, processwise, but I can't tell you what because I can't get into the machine to see what is hogging the cpu.

The only way to get the machine back is a hardware reset - i.e. switch the whole machine off then on again. I had this with 9.2 as well.

I have stopped screensaver running in case that's it, or is this a power management problem?
