Scponly Which files are really necessary?

Hi@all,

i just wondering which files are really necessary for running scponly?

I have just implemented scponly and tested it. Because i want a up-to-date chroot, i rsync the files in chroot/bin etc. Rsync reported, that usr/bin/passwd differs from chroot/usr/bin/passwd. So I tried to rename it. And, surprise surprise, it worked well without the passwd binary. Does anyone know, which files are really necessary? I don't tkink, for example, that a user needs the passwd command. Or am I wrong?

Greetings

Sascha

Did you set up the chroot environment yourself? The scponly installation gives you a nice little script that you can run (and modify if you'd like) to create the chrooted user directory for you. I'd use that.

I haven't looked at it lately, but I seem to remember that it does not provide much more than the ls binary.
