SAX2 has bad memory??

for some reason, when I boot into suse 9.2. same resolution and refresh/color depth as in windows the screen is off to the left a bit... no big deal used sax to center the screen, but every time I reboot it forgets where I had it set and I have to do it all over again, any reason as to why it doesnt remember my position settings? also getting an annoying flicker on the screen I dont see in windows.. maybe I just did something wrong?
