I updated my ATI drivers with the ATI proprietary driver. All seems to have gone relatively well. However, when I use Sax2 to configure, I get a black screen. I get the test screen, but when I hit save, I lose the screen. How can I get Sax2 to work for me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
A continuation to the ATI driver install. I have followed a few HowTos on this subject. They all seem to say after installing ATI driver you must run Sax2 to configure the driver. The command given is # sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx -b /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile. The problem with this is that I don't have a /usr/share/doc/packages/fglrx/sax2-profile. I have also read to start it without the profile. So, I went # sax2 -r -m 0=fglrx. This will actually allow me to make changes in Sax, and get to the test screen. Once I hit save however, I only get a black screen. As it stands, I can't get my power saving settings to work properly, and suspect that I won't until I can configure properly in Sax. Any information on how to get Sax to work would be greatly appreciated.
How old is your graphics card? did you check the ATI compatibility list? I thought my laptop would work with this installer, but it doesnt . I ran into the same point to find that out. I have an ATI Radeon Mobility 7000 (RS200). I dont need it anyway since 3d support works with Suse and X11.
I have an ATI Radeon X800. I have 3D capabilities now since the update, I just can't do any Sax2 Config changes. I would like to be able to do this. Or, would it be suitable to make the changed directly within the xorg.conf file?
