I did a search here and with google and haven't been able to find the information I need to configure a Samba share so only one particular user can access the share from a windows XP machine. I know my Samba works because if I set it to Guest OK I can access the share from the windows XP workstation. What I want to be able to do is lock down the share so that only one account/pass from the windows xp machine can access the share on the Suse box. I configured identical login / passwords on both boxes and also tried using the Manage Network Passwords area on the Windows XP box to setup the corresponding login, still no luck. When I remove the GUEST OK = YES and replace it with USERS = myuser and VALIDUSERS = myuser I get he login dialogue when I try to access the share and it wont accept my password.

I apologize if my explanation / question seems confusing. I am much better explaining something visually.. LOL

Did you configure the Samba user's password with the smbpasswd command?
