safe install
 
for suse 9.1 download

what exactly does safe install do? also there is a ton of crap getting installed that i do not need on this pc..
is there a custom menu for 9.1 personal?

pc is a
500mhz celeron 128mb of ram
4gb hdd

You should have had the option during the YaST portion of the install. It should be called something like "software selection" or "package selection".

Once you have a system up and running, you can use YaST to "Install and Remove Software". This will give you exactly the same interface to work with that is available when you install the system. Use the filters for "Selections" and then "package groups" to weed out what you don't need.

And I don't know what safe install does. It may use a failsafe kernel or something. I'm not sure
