running python programs in suse 9.2?

Hi.. Ive been trying to get a different bittorrent program running as a change from azureus... occasionally it locks up my connection so i just want to see what the other clients do..

So i download Shad0ws thing and ABC and see that they are all written in python.. Now, i believe i have all the libs and everything installed.. i just did a monster 5gb installation with everything that didn't conflict included, but on previous installations i don't think i ever got anything python to run properly..

In short, what do i do to make python programs executable or whatever, and get them to install or run from firefox or whatever they are supposed to do please?

python programs are scripts. You can run them like this:

python program_name

This is in case you don't have your paths set up properly...

ok.. so for example, im doing this from a folder on my desktop, get a termial and...:

dark@crazy:~/Desktop/backup/BitTornado-0.3.7/BitTornado-CVS> python setup.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "setup.py", line 8, in ?
from distutils.core import setup, Extension
ImportError: No module named distutils.core
dark@crazy:~/Desktop/backup/BitTornado-0.3.7/BitTornado-CVS>

Also when i try to run another file it says i might not have wxpython installed properly, but seeing as it kinda works, i dont really know what to be doing?

The "PATH" stuff still really confuses me, i know i put pointers to files in there and when ever i call a certain file like Java, it'll go and look in these places before saying "file not found" or "install java" you know.. but how do you make these files and where exactly do they go please?
