Root login and upgrade problems.

I'm having a couple of problems that I need help with.
1. I tried upgrading SuSe 9.2 to 9.3. When I tried to do a FTP install, it just gives me a "installation failed" message. I'm trying to download from FTP.SUSE.COM. Any idea what the problem is ? The FTP install doesn't work from the other mirrors. I'm guessing that it's because of the non-existence of the autorun files? There certainly is a difference in the files between the "current" folder in FTP.SUSE.COM and the other mirrors.

2. I upgraded to KDE 4.3. Now, it won't let me login as Root. I had edited a file and got this working in the earlier version. Can't remember it now. Help!
Yeah.. yeah... I shouldn't login as Root. I know. I just want the option.

Another question. Now that I've upgraded KDE (using KDE4.3 for Suse 9.2), would it cause any compatibility issues if I upgrade Suse to 9.3 ?

to 1.: it won't work until 9.3 is released on FTP. What you see on the server is the FTP ADD-ON for user of the boxed version without DVD drive.

to 2.: can't help, since I would never do it

9.3 isn't released yet on ftp ,so you can't get it that way.
Either buy the DVD's or get it elsewhere

Upgrading KDE from 3.3 to 3.4 has a root login bug. Seems you can't graphically login as root with the upgrade.
