Unhappy resize and mounting problem..

Hi,

I resized my windows disk ( the 2nd disk ) in my PC and created a new raiserfs partition to work with Suse9.1.

however, after the resizing, the windows partition is gone missing....
Now It does not mount automatically, even after I specify it in /etc/fstab.

Any idea?

redrobin.

Does the partition get recognized by fdisk ? What appears with fdisk -l?

Resize and mounting problem

I had the same problem with my laptop the first time I installed
Suse 9.1 Pro. It cleaned Win XP out and had to reinstall it. After
the second try I used Partition magic to create a Linux partion.
Suse went right to it and left Windows alone. I was sure glad I
had backed up any important files in Windows before doing this.

but...

thanks for the reply, but in my case it is just that the mouting is not done at startup...only that..
the windows partition is still there and I can boot to it if I use HDD-1 in BIOS.

So I think I have a wrong entry in /etc/fstab.

So why don't you post your /etc/fstab and full fdisk -l report, so we can tell what's wrong?

/etc/fstab

Hi,

here is my /etc/fstab:

/dev/hdb2 / reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 1
/dev/hdb3 swap swap pri=42 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts mode=0620,gid=5 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs noauto 0 0
/dev/dvdrecorder /media/dvdrecorder subfs fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,ocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/fd0 /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss,procuid,nodev,nosuid,sync 0 0
/dev/hdc2 /disk2 reiserfs acl,user_xattr 1 2
/dev/hdc1 /windows FAT32 default

hdc1 is the windows partition that was resized.
hdc2 is the new partition i created in the disk.

what could be wrong here....

Change this

Code:
/dev/hdc1 /windows FAT32 default
to this

Code:
/dev/hdc1 /windows vfat defaults,umask=000
and it should work.
