Question rescue system commands

Hi All,

Is there a list of special commands that you should use when booting from the "rescue system" (on the installation CD-R)? When I tried to see if there was indeed a rescue option on my CD, there was, but it didn't respond to commands such as "ls". Or maybe I should be mounting something?

I have SuSE 9.1 Personal (free, from a magazine).

Any ideas will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

there is single user mode booting in every distro of linux & unix and you have to mount the root / file system in rw (read ,wrte ) mode to troubleshoot it through editing files if you have to troubleshoot it through commands then you don't need to mount root files system .I have n't used suse so can't tell you about . single user mode is also called rescue mode .

take care

Hi qadri409,

So single user is equivalent to rescue? Oh! Thanks, I didn't realise that.

I thought I'd posted to the Suse group?

I dont' think I'm too much wiser, but I do thank you for your input.

Jess
