replacing RedHat V7.3 with SuSE Prof V9.1

I have MS-Windows98 and RedHat V7.3 on my computer. I have been using RedHat for last two years. Now I want to replace RedHat V7.3 with SuSE Professional V9.1.

While installing RedHat I had partitioned disk such that Windows98 has three drives (C: 4 GB, D: 9 GB, E: 7 GB) Linux has / of 2 GB, /usr of 12 GB, swap of 512 MB and /var of 2 GB. When I was trying to install SuSE it was not able to detect the / (root) and /var partitions, it was only displaying the /usr and swap partitions.

I want to retain the old partitions and use them the way I was using them with RedHat. I have copied all my Linux data to Windows drives. Is it possible to maintain these partitions? How can I install SuSE without loosing data on Windows partitions?

Thanks and best regards.
