RC1 cell phone modem

I just got RC1 working. Yay me. But it doesn't seem to recognize my cell phone as a modem, as it did in 9.3 pro...is there anything I can get to remedy this? The phone is being acknowledged by the system in some way, shape, or form because the phone says "USB connected"...

alright. Same question, different approach. Since it worked under 9.3, could I re-install it (9.3) get the modem configured, then re-upgrade to RC1. I would try it without asking, but I guess I am hoping someone will give me a "hm...that will maybe possibly work"

and if you say that, don't say it just because you can, please
