Problems with Suse 9.2

Hi people!!!, i've a problem with suse 9.2, i've already post in others forums but no one gives me a right answer. The issue is that i have two video cards, an on-board card intel extreme graphics and a pci card nVidia GeForce 5200 FX. When the pci card is active in the bios, i can't install the system because it install the first cd and after reboot the system it "died" and this appear in the screen:

Code:
INIT: Entering Runlevel: 5
INIT: ID "1" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: ID "2" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: ID "3" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: ID "4" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: ID "5" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: ID "6" Respawning too fast: Disabled for 5 minutes
INIT: No more processes left in this runlevel
If i switch in the bios to the on-board card and then i try to install the system everything works fine. When the installation finish i configure the nvidia card in SaX2 to be the primary, and when the system reboots i switch again to the nvidia card in the bios but when the system is starting appears the same in the screen:

Code:
modprobe: FATAL: error inserting hw_random (/lib/modules/2.68-24-default/kernel/drivers/char/hw_random.ko): No such device

If i reset the computer and switch again to the on-board card everything works fine and the system boots without a problem and i can log into the system.
Anyone knows something about this problem and how can i fix it?????
(Please help!!!!!, i really want to have this distro in my computer, i'm i fan of suse)

Well as a place to start, I would make sure when you install Suse that you do the basic install. Also see if you can find a graphics driver for your card. If one is not in the cds during first disc install, then if I recall correctly you can incorporate one into your install via floppy disk.

Well Runlevel 5 is after a bunch of other stuff. Do you get all the normal things before that?
I would see if there's something that you're overlooking before you get this error. The only reason I say this is because sometimes an error is caused by a previous error.

Anyway, at least a place to start.

I can perform the basic install and i can select the rights drivers for my card (i do the basic install with the on-board card -the system recognizes both-)
When i use the on-board card run level 5 works fine. When i boot the system with the pci card i get the error. I think that i get all normals things before that.
Note: if i switch to run level 3 to default in the inittab an the reboot the system i get the same error.

I am haveing the EXACT same problem, EXACT same errors. I have a DELL, system works fine w/ onboard video, but I added a GeForce PCI video card and all hell broke loose. I've tried EVERYTHING (well, everything I can think of), I'd really like some help with this. I tried booting into runlevel 3 by changing inittab, no luck, same error.

Is the on board video identified as part of your bios? Do you have to disable the on board video card so you can use your pci video card? Could this be an old fashioned interupt/dma issue? I didn't have this issue as my dells all came with vid cards in them so I didn't have to worry about adding an after market vid card.

ya...it was disabled. must be an nvidia thing....

if i re-enabled the onboard, linux booted just fine. I even tried to reinstall as an "update" option, no good. I'm currently reinstalling it clean with the onboard disabled, PCI enabled. its just a pain that i would have to do that.

This is digging back into my old old bag of tricks but might there be a jumper on the motherboard you need to change to turn off the onboard video in reality while you can flip the switch off logically or virtually in the bios is there a physical switch/jumper you have to set to really turn it off?

One other thing I just thought of check the xorg and make sure your monitor's refresh rates are correct. I had some really nasty problems with the refresh rates the install recognized my monitor and all went well until i rebooted and I got a bunch of weird messages and had to ctl+alt+f1 to switch to an init 3 screen to do anything. I reinstalled a bunch of times and finally gave up and fired up the old windows box and got on google. Took me about a minute to find my problem and about 3 hours to find out what the actual refresh rates were for my monitor. Once I got the refresh rates adjusted down 5Mhz both vert and horz and rebooted life was very good.
