Do you have this problem with other user accounts as well (e.g. root)?

You could try to delete the - file with rm "-<name>" or use a backslash to mark the dash as special character: rm \-<name>

To delete the log files, you could boot from CD (e.g. KNOPPIX) and remove the files from there.

At which stage does it ask to remove zen? Couldn't you switch zen to "install" instead of "remove"?
It may be an option to run system repair from the installation CD. Have a look here:
