Problems after power fail SUSE 10.1

The power failed and on reboot I received the message
waiting for device /dev/hdf5 to appear ......... not found exiting to /bin/sh

Looked for help and found lots that did not seem to help

Did a repair using 10.1 installation CD and when it got to searching for package database it crashed sending me back to the red error panel

Tried reiserfsck -check and fix-fixable but no errors detected.

Anyone any ideas on what to do next to fis this problem?

Until now it has been absolutely rock solid

I would reboot and choose the first or top option in GRUB. I can't remember the name, but it boots into some kind of safe mode or command line mode. I would then do a reiserfsck --rebuild-tree.

Hopefully, your drive is not bad now.

Thanks for the info
Unfortunately all the options give the same problem.
restarted with rescue off the CD1 of the suse 10.1 installation set
I used the rebuild tree on /dev/hdf5 and /dev/hdf6 without any success still have
resume device /dev/hde1 not found ignoring
waiting for device /dev/hdf5 to appear .......... not found exiting to /bin/sh

BTW the lines in grub are

Quote:
root (hd2,1)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz root=/dev/hdf5 vga=0x31a resume=/dev/hdf5 splash=silent showopts
initrd /boot/initrd
Any other ideas?
