Problems after installing SUSE 11.0

I have been using SUSE 10.2 with KDE3 for quite some time without problems. The other day, after installing SUSE 11.0 and KDE4, it started. Every couple minutes the screen would lock, and I would need to re-enter the user password. Disabling screen savers solved that problem. After setting desktops to four, two of them would mysteriously disappear for no apparent reason, and I would need to reset to four. Generally, the installation seemed squirrelly to me so I reinstalled SUSE 10.2 after first wiping the hard drive.

Now I'm experiencing those same problems with 10.2 that I never had before installing 11.0. I did do an online update after installing 10.2. could this be the cause?

Thanks for any help.

KDE 4 is essentially unstable or still needs some work on it for regular use. Yoy are probably better off installing KDE 3.5 with SUSE 11.0.
99% (although not all) problems should disappear if you do this.

Cheers

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I did do another complete install of 11.0 wherein I used KDE3, and it had the same problems as were happening with KDE4.

The problem now is that 10.2 with KDE3 is giving me some of the same problems I had with 11.0 with KDE4 and KDE3. To repeat, could it be that when I did the online update to 10.2 some features of 10.2 were changed??
