Problem using Yast2 to install/configure Samba
I am having problems installing Samba in order to share my linux files on a windows network. I have read elsewhere on this forum that it is simply a matter of installing the Samba rpms with YAST2 and then looking in the Network Services section for a Samba icon. There is lots of good advice to configure it from there. However – after installation only the Samba-client icon appears in Network Services.
I have downloaded the packages (3.0.8-1.1.1) from a Suse site.
These are the Samba items Yast2 shows as installed on my system-
KDEbase3 - samba
libsmbclient
samba
samba-client
samba-winbind
Yast2 – samba-client
samba-pdb
samba-vscan
The following were downloaded from the site but not installed (missing dependencies that I cannot find and I'm not sure if I need these packages)
ldapsmb – perl-idap dependency
samba-pdb– libmysqlclient.so.12 and libpq.so.3 dependency
samba-python - python dependency
heimdal – heimdal-tools not available
Any help would be appreciated.
