I'm using Gaim messenger for connecting to gtalk, yahoo and hotmail msn. I can very easily connect to hotmail. When I configured Gaim for gtalk using port 443 (because i'm under a proxy that forbids using 5050, 5222 or anyother higher ports) it worked fine for few days. But now I get an error msg saying 'Read Error'. Can anyone please help me to solve this problem ??? I'm using SuSE 10.1

I'm also using windows as a dual boot option. I cant understand why all the messengers work perfectly fine in windows though being under the same proxy server and a firewall. And in windows theres no error of using higer ports like 5050 or higher ports !!!

Please help me with this guys !!! I'm a big fan of Linux and dont wana use windows anymore

Perhaps the firewall for Suse got turned on and is now blocking port 443?
