Printing issues with 9.1


Since installing SuSE 9.1 Personal some time ago, I have had some problems printing to Epson Stylus Color printers via the Opera web browser.

What occurs is that Opera sends the print job to the spooler, then the job drops out of the spooler resulting in no printout. The error below was on a system with an AMD K6-2 CPU (500 MHz) 528 Mb of RAM, with an Epson Stylus Color 640 printer. My other system (also running SuSE 9.1) has an Intel Pentium/MMX (166 MHz), 96 Mb of RAM, with an Epson Stylus Color 400 (older model) printer connected to it, and have the same issue on that system.

A typical entry in /var/log/cups/error_log reads

I [26/Oct/2004:17:56:42 -0400] Hint: Try setting the LogLevel to "debug" to find out more.
When I previously had SuSE 9.0 installed, there were no printing issues whatsoever, it was perfect. On both of these systems, both Mozilla and Konqueror print fine, however anything Adobe Acrobat Reader prints, also fails under SuSE 9.1.

Is there anything in the above error that might indicate what (or where) the problem might be? I am still new to Linux. Would it be best to reinstall SuSE 9.0 again?

You didn't tell us if your problem is just with Opera.
Have you tried to print a test page from within Yast?
If you can successfully do that, the problem is Opera.
Just use another browser: personally I find Opera utter rubbish, especially the linux version.
