permission denied

i have suse 10.2 installed.i also have windows installed with 3 partitions.when i installed suse i selected option to mount them on startup.now i deselecte "Mount read-only" to get access to them.after doing it the permission is
"View and Write" but i still cant write to that partitions.when i select "Apply to all subfolders" i get error"access denied to /C..."and name of some file from that partition?
any ideas?maybe because i have some files as read only..maybe i should change read only from windows and then try again in suse?
thanks in advance

what filesystem are the windows partitions? if they are NTFS then writing to it isnt safe or recommended. if they are fat you should be able to write fine, as long as you have (root) permission.

you can do it with any distro as long as it has the support for it. the thing is it is not guaranteed or safe and can ruin the partition.

You can always create one fat partition for data used both by linux and windows.

as killy said you can create a fat32 partition that is probably universal with every.
if you are getting errors it may be that you dont have the support (driver loaded) for the ntfs write mode.
either way, again, using a fat32 partition is the safest if you need to be able to share data between the two.
