PCMCIA / Hotplug woes on 10 RC1 (OK on Beta 4)
On desktops SUSE 10.0 RC1 seems fine --everything works
What I've had a MEGA problem with are Laptops with PCMCIA cards (Wireless and Microdrive / CF card adapters). It seems the HOTPLUG has changed so if these cards aren't inserted at boot time then you can't get them to work -- no lights nothing -- nothing. If You DO insert them at boot time then you can't get wireless to work -- the old method in Beta 4 was to wait until the system had booted --then insert your wireless card --and magic it all worked (assuming you were using ndiswrapper for your card). So It's back yo Beta 4 on the laptop. Incidentally KDE often won't exit cleanly --you need to do a CTRL-Z afte exot to get a console prompt again. Anybody else got wireless to work using ndiswrapper on 10.0 RC1 yet ON A LAPTOP. --Desktops are another issue and usually not so problematical as laptops even when your desktop has a Wireless adapter card in it.
