You DO need the root password. Your system is wide open to hackers without one.

Also you really shouldn't login as root most of the time - you should make a non-root user and login as that then do "su -" when you need to become root. That way if you make a mistake (and you will just like we all have) in typing a command you're less likely to make it catastrophic.

I totally agree with jlighter. However, the passwordless login is possible, at least for user accounts. In KDE, open the control center and browse to system administration -> login manager. Here you can set the automatic login. Maybe not for root, since root should be restricted anyway. But you can do this for normal user accounts.

most distros won't let you login routinely as root because it has serious security implications. You need to create a normal user and then use the automatic login feature as suggested by others. Not logging in routinely as root is one of the security features for Linux/Unix Oses, which prevents crackers from getting full access to your system.

I just finish:
I went to: Control center---system administration---login manager.
I have tried a lot of combination like automatic login
login without password able but seems to don't work anytime i turn it on he ask me the user name which is "root" and the password. there is other user name like my name but does not accept it.
How i can delete all the old users and make a new one with a new password?
Thanks
