Packman YAST source problems?

i've used the Packman site
http://packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.0/
since i first learned about it on this site for my main YAST source. the problem i now face is that YAST is telling me the media has changed and it won't download from there. i've gone to the site in my browser and it will let me download rpms without a problem. the only thing is, i can't find all the rpms i want via my browser, as YAST knows where to look and i do not. has anyone else encountered this problem and if so what should i do to solve it?

You may need to refresh the source (Change Installation Source) before you install. There is also an option to do this every time automatically.

You can also use the web interface to find your packages:

i have packman (and all my non-CD sources) set to refresh each time i run YAST. the problem is that the packages show up for download but no amount of refreshing will bring them to me. i know about the web interface, but it seems that the packages aren't all available via the web interface. oh well, maybe a mirror is down or something. just wanted to see if anyone else had experienced problems recently with it.

yep i got the same problem :( tried a mirror which worked for a while but it seems that is having the same problem

I had the same problem for a day. I tried to refresh and it didn't seem to work so I removed it form my sources and added it back and it worked fine afterwards

I stopped using the autorefresh function. Instaed I just go into the sources list and manually refresh the packman source, works like a charm once autorefresh is turned off.

The main packman repo sometimes has problems. Use a mirror close to you if possible.

The mirrors given by Packman itself, are not 'real' mirrors.
The problem is caused simply by overload on this server, the 'hype'.

Best thing you can do, is, if it takes to long time to read the repo, save the list with apps that you want, after it is finaly finished, and load it when you get fast reading.
Look at the clock, and try if this is the time for you, by use the same time on another day...

Or use Guru, this one is overloaded sometimes also....
You can also switch off, get what you want from other servers, and come back for the apps you need another time..

These inconveniences are due to the enormous popularity of SuSE...

There is a sticky thread in the Suse forum regarding opensuse repos. Read through that, there are some examples on how to setup the repos.
