Package Installation fails during OpenSuse Eval 10.0 DVD install
Hi!
I am trying to install OpenSuse 10.0 Eval from a burnt DVD, but installation fails at the same stage all the time. Somewhere during "Package installation" the installers fails reading some software package.
I had some similar problems with Mandriva when I did not use ide=nodma, but I've run the Suse installer in Safe Mode and it still fails.
Started to believe that there was something wrong with the DVD. Found the verify install CD in the text mode and ran it successfully.
My setup:
ASUS P4C800 Deluxe
2 x 120GB SATA disks
md0: /boot 256MB (ReiserFS)
md1: / ~15GB (ReiserFs)
md2: LVM system ~100GB (ReiserFS) [tmp, usr, var, var/www, swap]
What shall I do? Is this some sort of hardware problem?
- burned DVD has error
- hardware problem with DVD players (I have two different)
- some other hardware problem

Just outta curiousity, but was this DVD made from the 5CDs? There's a typo on Suse's conversion cool solution. It tells you to rename Media.1 to just Media and its wrong. There should always be a Media.1 folder. I actually burnt the DVD after converting from 5CDs and it screwed me over, so I ended up reburning the DVD with the correct name.
So if this isnt the case, at least check the DVD for media.1 folder and if there's a few files in there.
If not, thats part of your problem.

The DVD was made from the DVD image "SUSE Linux Released 10.0 Evaluation DVD" linked from http://www.opensuse.org/Download.
I actually downloaded using this torrent ( ftp://ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distrib...GM.iso.torrent) and also ran the md5sum on the DVD.
But, I'll will check for the media.1 folder.
