openSUSE install issue
This one's a doozy. I have a DVD of openSUSE 10 that I installed to a secondary 20GB FAT32 HD (no shrinking of the partition, just a straight reiserFS reformat) three days ago.
Long story short: I had to restore the drive to a FAT32 for backup purposes and tried reinstalling yesterday. Now, kernel-default-2.6.13 and something like kernel-nongpl (I think) won't install. This is the exact error: Code:
error: /var/adm/YaST/InstSrcManager/IS_CACHE_0x00000001/MEDIA/suse/i586/kernel-fefault-2.6.13.i586.rpm: headerRead failed:hdr blob(587483): BAD, read returned -1 specs: AMD 1.2GHz 512MB GeForce 5200 128MB IDE 80GB Primary (Windows) IDE 20GB Secondary (openSUSE, I hope) SBC 2Wire Home Portal (yes I know how to configure it) Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
Might be that the DVD itself is damaged, maybe a scratch on it, as it doesn't seem to like reading that package in. There's an article on the SuSE sdb to check for media errors here http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2001/0...all_media.html

I'll try checking that (because I've got no other recourse). Thanks for the idea, I'll let you know how that turns out after I get home to check, but any other clues are welcome ;)
