Opensuse 10 install on SATA Raid Promise Fast trak TX 2300

Does anyone have any instructions on installing Opesnsuse 10(is there a better version) using a RAID card. I am trying to install a RAID 1 setup using two 300 GB SATA drives and a Promise Fast trak TX 2300. Suse does not recongnise any disks during the install. I have even tried laoding the promise SATA tx 2/4 module to no avail.

Any suggestions?

I dont know about that specific card, but to get my onboard silicon image raid controller to work it was a bit of a hassle. I tried to load the drivers off the first screen on the install with the external drivers option, I dont remember exactly. This never worked because the modules always got replaced with the SuSE version.

To get it to work I had to go through the install like normal where it autodetects everything and loads up the install kernel. When it gets to the first screen after that, the date/time screen I think, I had to switch to another terminal <ctrl><alt><F#> pop in the driver cd and then manually load in the module. Then switch back to the install screen usually F5 or F6? and continue like normal. I had to do the same steps again during the reboot during the install.

I dont know if this will work for you, but worth a shot. You'll be able to tell if it worked right away in the next screen or two where it autodetects the disks.
