openSuSE 10.2 Q - recording internet streams...

I've tried three different programs (KRecord, Sound Recorder and Last.FM) in conjuntion with Amarok 1.4.4 and ShoutCast(SC) website...

I can listen to SC via my browser but only after I download the link and "Open with Amarok". After the stream starts coming thru my speakers I try to right-click the link within Amarok and choose "RecordRadio | Listen to and Record Stream" which results in the server rejecting that request.

While Amarok was playing the stream I also tried to use KRecord and Sound Recorder to capture the stream but none of the recordings have been successful. Nothing but dead air comes thru on the playback.

Last.FM results are the same as Amarok.

I also have Banshee installed but none of the plugin's have been successfully installed...thoughts please ?

for Brian1...I installed mp3record and then...

linked up with ShoutCast and recorded a 9MB test file...I tried to playback using RealPlayer10, Amarok 1.4 and Banshee and neither program gave me any best w/Amarok I received a long squeal...all three programs recognized the same file as 9MB but no audio playback..

Do I have to indicate a source when running mp3record? It asked me a filename (test), then I believe a recording rate and bit size (=128 CD quality)...I then hit enter to start recording and enter to stop after the 9MB file was created...but again no I doing something wrong?

Internet Radio recording

HowTo record a stream from internet radio

1. Get from packman repository:

2. Get the RecordRadio bash script which enables streamripper as plugin for Amarok

3. Open Amarok
/Playlists/Tools/Script manager/Install script
Go to the wherever you download the RecordRadio script and install it.
Note: do not extract the file just leave it compressed.

4. In the script manager select
RecordRadio-OnDemand and click Run
The mp3 will be saved into ~/Music

5. Then Select the stream Rmouse /Record Radio /Listen and Record Stream

6. There is a front end to streamripper called kstreamripper. You can download it from packman too. I do not use it because is far more convenient inside Amarok (imho)
