Opening Files through shares on Samba

ok im trying to open a file shared on a XP machine through samba, I can read the files and shares alright, I can transfer files fine back and forth, but when I try to open a file on the suse machine it says "open failed, would you like to choose another action? the default action cant open "***.mp3" because it cant access files at "smb" locations"

would I have to mount all the shares to a specific folder in /mnt for an application in linux to be able to read it?? I can work with it fine just browsing for it manually. thanks for any info :)

The application you are using obviously doesn't understand the smb protocol. You can either mount the share and access the files across the network or just copy the files you want to play to your local machine.

yea,, none of the programs seem to access it, but then again there is no exact folder for them to look in, so it does kinda make since.. thanks for your response
