Unhappy Open Suse 10.1 Compiling source - gcc errors

Fresh install of 10.1 and I'm attempting to install superkaramba, yakuake, and an SSL VPN client from Citrix from source and receive the same error during the ./configure process (could not find rpm's).

I read elsewhere on this forum superkarumba is part of the kde extras package... Installed from the CDs - no joy -does not show up in the Suse menus. So, here's the output I receive:

PCSLX:/home/jgleason/tools/superkaramba-0.39/superkaramba-0.39 # ls
acinclude.m4 COPYING superkaramba

Looks like gcc is not installed. Check with 'rpm -q gcc' and install with YaST.

GCC missing

Thank you....

Yast showed it installed and I could see the folders as well as added to path...... The kicker is when I added installation sources (those listed here) low and behold gcc no longer showed as installed when I was adding yakuake and others. I will now continue my Linux education.

I thank you for the reply though.

I have same problem
I went to manpages and searched for gcc it came up with WINEGCC and the write up in the man says itis compatible with all the usual compilers even c++
so I conclude that suse is installing winegcc instead of gcc
Now I have to find out how to put winegcc in the path and I also have to find out how to tell ./configure to recocnise and use winegcc as the compiler can any one help please

From my previous exp with yast - I have seen it is easier to install using yast then anything else.

trying adding suse(yast) repositries.

Once they are added - Simply try search .

I know what i said here is quite vague but not everybody would hassle reading this stuff

Lemme know if you wanna try my way.
