nvidia agp is not enabled?

hello ppl,

jay@cm41:~> cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status
Status: Disabled

AGP initialization failed, please check the ouput
of the 'dmesg' command and/or your system log file
for additional information on this problem.
jay@cm41:~>

so looks like the agp is disabled any idea how to enable it?

thnx

Same problem here....I am so confused. I had it working then I had my whole filesystem crash (reiser4) so I had to go back to my stage4 which was before I fixed the problem. I am not sure how to get this to work. Please help ASAP!

well you know what, when i put nvagp to 1 it hangs, when i put it to 2 it also hangs then i found by putting to 3 it does not hang anymore.

One more strange problem im encountering is that depsite installing the nvidia driver manually and doing all the things to enable 3D acceleration im getting this random behaviour whereby the nvidia driver fails to load with the error as being :
Code:

Nvidia: Could not open the device /dev/nvidia0 (input/output error).
Nvidia: Failed to initialize the nvidia driver graphics device.

any ideas why this behaviour?

pls shed some light on this thanks.
