I am a beginner for linux. Only since four months.
I have one desktop (AMD Athlon 1.14 GHz, nVIDIA nFORCE2 chipset, 1GB RAM, nVIDIA Gigabytes graphic acelerator/duel monitor card, M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI sound card) and an Acer Extensa 4620 laptop (Intel Core2 DUO, Intel 965 chipset).
I started with Debian Lenny 5.0.3 i386 for both the systems. Since I found it a little hard for a beginner like me to make things work on Debian and also since I did not get 64bit version, I switched over to OpenSUSE 11.2.
At present I am duel booting my desktop with OpenSUSE 11.2 i586 and MS Windows XP Pro/SP2 and my laptop runs only OpenSUSE 11.2 x86_64.

I want to know which is the best NTP server to use. I am located in Mumbai, India.
Also I would like to know how I can configure my KDE desktop to look and behave like Mac OS or MS windows XP. Are help files available for KDE?

There is no "best" NTP server, that really makes no sense, not least becuase you should never just use one server. just point your machine to 0.pool.ntp.org, 1.pool.ntp.org and 2.pool.ntp.org and you'll be fine. There are also more regional services, which you can get further dns names from www.ntp.org

Don't make it look like windows or mac. it's fine how it is - why just try to blindly copy??

Thank you very much Chris. The NTP is working fine. My problem was it did not always syncronize properly. I think it must have been due to some local problem.

Regarding the looks of the desktop I feel that you are right. It is better to leave it as it is. I works very well. Only I have to get used to it.

From my earlier experience with Gnome, KDE seems to be much more flexible.
