no sound on 9.2 (only this app)

When I run my favorite flight simulator on 9.2 I get this message on the terminal:

Error while opening parent directory: No medium found
ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1172snd_pcm_hw_open) open /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p failed: Device or resource busy
open /dev/[sound/]dsp: Device or resource busy
Error while opening parent directory: No medium found

It seems the program is trying to access the sound system but doesn't succeed in opening the directory. Any suggestions? The flight simulator runs fine but no sound. Other apps play fine.
