no "import" option

I'm running Suse 8.2
and when I type:
rpm --import guru-rpm.asc
I get:
--import: unknown option

How can I add this option to my system?

Thanks.

You probably need to update rpm (did you look at 'man rpm' for maybe different syntax?).

I am not sure if it is possible to update rpm to version 4 on your system without getting into trouble. Maybe you should consider a system update if this function is really important for you.

I checked the man pages and in fact... no import option appears.
I downloaded rpm4 for Suse 9.1 and I get these

unsatisfied dependencies
popt = 1.7, libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.3.4) , libpopt.so.1

So is the alternative a full system upgrade?

You could have a try to install popt also from 9.1, but may still not work. Since Yast depends on the use of rpm, maybe the different syntax will not allow Yast to work properly. I'd say you need to update the system...
