newbie: securing 9.2

I just got a server with Suse64- 9.2 pre-installed. Since the idea is for it to be super-stable, I'm wondering if I should just confine the updates to those related to security. In debian (the distro I'm familiar with) I would just comment out the non-security lines in etc/apt/sources.list. Should I do something similar for Suse? If so, how would I go about doing it?

Thanks in advance..

When you run Yast Online Update you have the option of un-checking anything you don't want. Just deselect those that are not security related. The security related ones are highlighted in red, if I remebr correctly.

I see.. But is there any way to update via the command line? How do admin's manage boxes that are headless or remote?

I've never done it from the command line, but here is a little tutorial on it...
