Queries

When i am trying to download suse linux 10.1 from open suse website
its is showing 2 Architectures that is x84 and x86-64. i am confused which cd images i have to download.my system configaration is

Pentium4 3Ghz
Intel 865 GVHZ Mother Board
Samsung 80Gb HDD

Can u please tell me which architecture i have to download. Is C and java are there in suse Linux 10.1 .

chaitanya.cool, Welcome to SUSE! You want the x86 version not the x86-64 which is for 64-bit processors.

Also, please come back to LQ for answers. emailing them defeats the point which is (as you know from your first post) to share knowledge.

Java & Sql

Hi...

Now i am doing a project based on java,sql .In Suse 10.1 can i do this project . i want to know whether it had java,sql installed in it defaultly. or else tell me where can i download these.

Java would normally be installed in a default installatio of SUSE. Mysql would not be part of a default install. You can add mysql using various methods. Go to YAST and then select Software Management or whatever appears to be a similar option (I am using SLED 10 so my menu might be slightly different). Or, you can go to Applications, System, Configuration and then click Install Software.

If you have a few extra dollars to spare, you might want to purchase one of several excellant books on SUSE that are available at many bookstores. I just picked up SUSE Linux by O'Reilly, which has info on version 10.1. There also is SUSE Bible that has info on version 10, which is close to what you have.

Hardware Configaration

Hi all,

i am using a Suse 9.1 now and i have formatted it and installed the Suse 10.1 ,but atlast in HARDWARE CONFIGARATION it has showed my monitor as 15 inch , bUt my monitor is Samsung 17 inch with INTEL 865 GV Motherboard and with Intel p4 3.0 Ghz processor , and if continue to use it the monitor display goes off ,what should i do?

Start "sax2" and reconfigure your video and monitor settings.
