If you look at the release notes or the section where you can actual download the driver they state that "kernel headers are no longer required with this release". As for the HOWTO, there's one here in the LQ Tutorials section. >

And as a note, always have a backup of all your important data before embarking upon updating, upgrading or installing new software/hardware to your system.
