Network connection limit

I have 15 windows xp machines and would like to connect to my linux machine running SLES 9. Problem is that I can only connect 6 machines and when another machine tries to connect I get a connection limit reached error. Is there a setting I can adjust for this to be rectified? Please assist.

You mean connection to a samba server? I think there is a parameter in smb.conf that allows to define a maximum number of connections (max connections = 15)

Thanks for the reply but would that be an entry already in my smb.conf file or should I place it there? I have had a look at the file and there is no entry of max connections. If I'm to place it there would it be under the [global] section or the others?

I would try to place it in the [global] section. Maybe it would work on a specific share as well. However, if you did not have this entry in smb.conf, you may need to check how many active connections you have when the error appears. I haven't worked with samba quite a while, but I think swat has a function to monitor active connections. Maybe one of you clients opens too many connections...
