Network!

Hi to all!

This might be useful for many users with network problems: first ive installed the 5cd Suse 9.3 not the Dvd as it was before. Also w/out the ACPI package which also i dont need it at all (never liked). Meanwhile during all this time of tries ive also installed a new 3com card the model 3COM 3C2000-Tc10/100/1000 PCI. In Yast ive put static ip, gateway using router's ip, subnet, DNS using the ones indicated by the router for both, this one and the inboard Intel 10/100. I did different tests declaring that one should be mounted as hotplug device and another manually and so on making all the possible combination, i didnt see any changes in Intel's one but the 3Com was responding accordingly to the changement. Using the shell i could ifdown, modprobe, ifup and for check all i also used the rcnetwork command. Actually this is the only sure way for make the 3com work (the Intel seems hybernated). Still have to do test on which choice in the activation method is the best considering the comp once in a while must be switched off completely (router and mainboard too which i think it creates the problem).

There's a way to create a script with "ifdown-modprobe-ifup-rcnetwork" command or which should be the best choice in the activation method under Yast?

I forgot to mention that i also deleted the domain name server under resolf.conf but i think it doesnt matter coz it's a data used when the nic already works.

Thanks to all, if something new ill post here!
Ric
