Unhappy MySQL, Apache2 smb not running

Hello:

I had my web apache2, mysql, samba, cron and cups (at least) starting automatically at boot.

I was having this dialog error from KPowerSave saying that powersaverd was not running. I think I was not in the right group for powersaved users or perhaps powersaved was actually not running.

Then I went to have a look in the RunLevel editor, don' touched anything, pressed the finish button; I also eliminated the kpowersave icon from the tray (my computer is not a laptop) and rebooted.

After then, the mentioned services were not running. They were marked with "Yes" and an asterisk in RunLevel editor indicating "Enabled but not running". They all are set to start on runlevels 3 and 5.

I haven't messed around with rc.d symlinks K##service and S##service

chkconfig just says the same: on at runlevels 3 and 5.

Of course they start manually but that's not the point, but rather they are configured in runlevel editor to start on the mentioned runlevels; the boot log says nothing about any of them and the runlevel editor keeps indicating " Yes* " (with asterisk).

Welcome all helps. Thanks

sounds like you are using a gui to edit these configs. I'm sure a 1000 people will happily tell you about 5-10 different ways of doing this, but if it was me, I would look up some config help for xinetd, inet, and rc config files. I would suspect your trouble is probably the real file(s) aren't being written when you are chnagingt he config in your gui.

Thanks but so far I don't find where there could be a problem, I'm certainly using YaST to configure this, but crosschecking with CHKCONFIG -L, I get the following status (see Apache2 and MySQL are ON on runlevels 3 and 5 which matches with that of YaST.

Fixed!

Fixed!:

I went to YaST, disabled the services with * in the runlevel editor, then enabled them again. Rebooted and that was all.

Thanks
