My monitor just turns off and doesn't get to the desktop (SUSE 9.3).

This is really weird. I had SUSE 9.3 up and running, then I decided to update to openSUSE 10.0. I installed it, it booted, but before it got to the desktop (there's only one user, and it's on auto-login), the monitor just went blank and the monitor light turned amber. I figured it was an incompatibility issue with 10.0, so I installed 9.3 again, and the same exact thing happened! Windows XP (which I'm on right now) works fine. I'm able to get in through failsafe, by the way. Does anyone know how to solve this problem? Help would be greatly appreciated. I could just stick to Windows...but I really want to get Linux working again as soon as possible!

I would answer that you must configure X again. I dont remember how to that.. But I think SuSe uses too high refresh rate for your monitor. Thats why your monitor light goes amber. I hope someone who know how to re-configure X would answer

I had the same problem with 9.3, I think it's because the Sync is too high or too low for your monitor.

Presse Ctrl + alt + (+/-) to cycle through display modes (when it seems to be done booting), that did it for me, then change the sync settings according to what your monitor supports.

I'm new at this, very, but it sounds like the problem I had

I think this must be the explanation in my case but Presse Ctrl + alt + (+/-) does nothing on my computer.
Something to do with loading in Terminal mode. Please see other thread

Any help appreciated.
