Mouse

I've got my Logitech MX700 here but linux makes 6 out of the 8 buttons useless without the software...and it figures that logitech doesn't support linux GNUs...aside from everything else I would love it if JUST my scroll button would respond...ne ideas?

To get your scroll wheel to work, open your XF86Config-4 file (in /etc/X11/XF86Config-4) and check your mouse entry. Assuming you have a USB mouse, you should have an entry about halfway down along the lines of:
Code:
Section "InputDevice"
        Identifier "USB Mouse"
        Driver "mouse"
        Option "Device" "/dev/mouse"
        Option "Protocol" "IMPS/2"
        Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
        Option "Buttons" "5"
EndSection
As for the remaining buttons, you can always increment the last two option's arguments by two (i.e. to "6 7" and "7"). Have a read of http://www.linux-gamers.net/modules/...p?articleid=46 for a more detailed discussion. Note the location of your mouse may well vary from /dev/mouse (don't change it from whatever it currently is).

Cheers,

mj
