Mountng Problem in Samba

I am using SuSe9.1 with DKE 3.2.1 and smb4k 0.5.1

after a lot of trials and updates, I finally managed to make my samba to see the network i am in

and i managed to get the list of shares of the computers that are with me in the network but i have a small error tht i cant get through

everytime i try to mount any of the shares of these pc's i get this error message:

"An Error occured while trying to mount the share"

and when I press the details button I get this message as a detail:

"smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (1000,1000)
smbmnet failed : 1"

I logged in as root, and everything went just fine !!!

so any idea about how to make the mounting of shares possible for my normal account not as root ??

I am not sure about this, but can't you make this available through fstab (or /etc/samba/smbfstab)? If you add an entry like this:

Code:
//server/share   /mountpoint   smbfs   noauto,users

This is not a command, it's a configuration to be made in /etc/fstab or /etc/samba/smbfstab. In principle it works like the standard lines in fstab: you specify the device to be mounted, which is a //server/share in this case, then you specify the mountpoint and filesystem (smbfs or cifs). The option 'users' makes the mountcommand available for all users (at least this is how it works for standard devices). Have a look in /etc/samba/smbfs for an example.

Found this on http://smb4k.berlios.de/

Question:

If I want to mount a share, I get a message like this:

smbmnt must be installed suid root for direct user mounts (500,500)
smbmnt failed: 1
What does that mean?

Answer:

It means, that you do not have the right permissions to mount SMB shares. There are two things you can do:

1. Set the SUID root bit for smbmnt. Therefore you have to find out, where the binary is located. Try

$ ls -la `which smbmnt`

in the shell. If this is a symlink, follow it to find the binary (e. g. under SuSE 8.x you get /usr/bin/smbmnt as result, but the binary is lying under /usr/lib/samba/classic/smbmnt). Change into the directory, where smbmnt resides and do

$ chmod +s smbmnt

Now the mounting should work. NOTE: Do not set the SUID root bit for smbmount!
2. Smb4K 0.4.0 and later provide the ability to execute mount and umount SUID root using the program super. To enable this feature you have to go to the configuration dialog and enable the checkbox "Use super user privileges to mount and unmount shares." in the section Shares.

I tried the last one
"Smb4K 0.4.0 and later provide the ability to execute mount and umount SUID root using the program super. To enable this feature you have to go to the configuration dialog and enable the checkbox "Use super user privileges to mount and unmount shares." in the section Shares."

and the error message doesnt appear anymore

but yet another more strange thing happens !!!

when i click on any folder shared from other pc's, that folder appear in the mounted shares window then dissapears, as if it flashes

so why does this happen ?? it doesnt happen when i am logged in as root !!
