Mapping Keyboard Special Keys(some success at long last)

After finding a rather enlightening thread here, which I have been looking through similiar for weeks, whenever I felt lucky... I finally got kind of lucky.

Which pointed to this:

After looking around some more, I found others... you may be wondering why I mention this, with so many dead ends already posted and available for your perusal. Because this isn't a deadend. In fact I type this message on a "Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard" and just so happen to have a few extra working buttons... 12 more buttons(kinda):
[bold]Media[/bold]:
Mute
Vol Down
Vol Up
Play/Pause
Stop
Back
Forward
[bold]Other[/bold]:
My Docs
Mail
Web/Home
Calculator
Sleep
(Honestly though, only Mute, Vol Down, and Vol Up actually WORK thus far.)

This certainly isn't perfect. The zoom is still non functional, none of the 6 Favorite keys work, My Pics, My Music, Messenger, Log Off... This is only because they don't show any keystrokes in xev. The others do, so with other keyboards and choices for base maps, you may have a higher rate of success. But maybe from my start, someone can help pitch in a bit and show us all how to get even more buttons.

I am not going to type the whole thing out here, rather post the chronicals of my mostly success and moral victory on my website. I need the traffic. :) Besides, it is quite long, actually, well beyond the limit of these forums.

So I give those who needed a bit of help getting some more keys working:
The Cosmic Pothole Special Key Mapping Guide

It isn't quite done yet, it gets you to the same point I am at. A few more buttons, but hopefully that will grow massively soon. Right now I am still trying to figure out now that I have teh keyboar mapped to all those buttons, and actions assigned...why is the actions like "XF86AudioStop" do nothing at all, while "XFAudioRaiseVolume" does?
