Question Manually mounting an encrypted partition

So I am at a loss how to do this.

The back story is that I had this hard drive and I had a system failure (was running opensuse 10.2 using dm-crypt) but the hard drive is fine. The problem is that when the system was running I had an encrypted partition that automatically mounted after a paraphrase. Once entered it mounted to a custom directory. So /temp/var/.

Now that the system is gone I want to manually mount this directory. I have it in a usb hard drive container so the hard drive itself is now on /dev/sdb/ and I have the old file system up. Just not the encrypted partition. How would I mount that partition????

Have you tried using cryptsetup (or cryptmount) to access it? For example, if the encrypted partition is on /dev/sdb1:
cryptsetup luksOpen /dev/sdb1 tempvar
mount -t ext3 /dev/mapper/tempvar /tmp/var <= or whatever file system you're using
