Find out what the missing command is (it's probably gcc if you're using SuSE personal) and install it.
You can use two modems on Linux quite happily; just make sure /dev/modem (or your ppp0 config) points to the right device. I don't think Windows will mind much either, although it may default to using the first device it finds.
Also, for your information, there is no advantage to a Winmodem over a hardware modem even on Windows; it will use slightly more system resources (CPU and RAM) and should otherwise behave about the same. (Unless your Winmodem is a fax modem and the hardware one isn't, or something like that).
